Each resident of Brussels produces 170 kg of waste on average each year (https://environnement.brussels/node/22349 ). This waste is collected, transported, sorted, recycled, incinerated, etc. All these stages have an environmental, human, social and financial cost.
Producing less waste means making:
- Savings for the community and freeing-up financial resources that can be injected into health, education, social actions, regional planning, etc.;
- Savings on the household budget
- A positive impact on the environment;
- Ameaningful impact that makes people more responsible and frees them from the feeling of helplessness.
